Thre abundance of the Kyrgyzstan butterfly fauna is conditioned by the natural landscape diversity, it here the fauna of Central Asia desert is linked with foothill and montane fauna of the largest mountain systems of the western Central Asia, Tien-Shan, Pamir and Alai. Taking into account the relatively small area of Kyrgyzstan and large number of occurring species, it is possible to note that Kyrgyzstan is the place of a highest butterfly species concentration, including numerous local and endemic species and subspecies. The book contains figures of numerous type specimens, including many Parnassius and Coliasspecies group taxa (apollonius, delphius, styx, illustris, luedwigi, boedromius, hohlbecki, grayi, simulator, tashkorensis, elissa, maja, alta, aeolides, staudingeri, regia, christophi, erschoffii, alpherakii, etc., etc.). In total the book contains information on 281 species (over 1000 species and genus group taxa) occurring in Kyrgyzstan. The bibliography section consists of 693 entries.
