Description of the Amara subgenus Xenocelia subg. n. including 20 Palaearctic and 10 Nearctic species is given. The species are transferred from the subg. Celia Zimmermann, 1832 and Bradytus Stephens, 1828, and three are newly described. Separate keys for the Western Palaearctic, Eastern Palaearctic and Nearctic species are presented.
