This volume is the first comprehensive reference book to all butterfly and skipper species known to occur in Ladak, a territory situated in the largest mountain ranges of Central Asia. All species are figured in colour (about 1470 images, including many type specimens of Lycaenidae, Nymphalidae and Parnassius (acdestis, albicans, maharaja, otos, rupshuana, zanskaricus, zarraensis, etc.). Two colour plates represent landscapes. The book includes information on distribution, habitats, flight period, complete synonymy, type material, distribition maps of 92 species (more than 370 species and genus group taxa). The bibliography section consists of 361 entries.
